Last night on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the NBC host took stock of how President Donald Trump’s been using executive power during his first few weeks in office.
And … it’s not been great. In the past week, Trump has picked fights with judges, the always-crooked media, Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), “negative polls” and, of course, the truly odious Nordstrom:
Meyers carves out a solid chunk of time to talk about the Nordstrom incident, which occurred about 20 minutes after Trump’s daily briefing (about the time it takes to watch an episode of Vanderpump Rules, according to Meyers). Making things even worse, Kellyanne Conway of course later hopped on TV to (illegally) plug Ivanka’s line which immediately invited comparisons to QVC.
Then, there’s the lack of any public statement or tweet about the Quebec shooting. The griping with judges. Blasting the media about coverage of terrorist attacks. And, of course the discussion of “Easy D!” But those things aren’t as important as Nordstrom, the end-all-be-all of American cultural excellence.
