In theaters now, Bitter Harvest tells a story that, incredibly, has
never been told on film up until now -- the story of the Holomodor,
Stalin's genocidal campaign against Ukraine. But this is no dry
history lesson; it's a lush historical epic along the lines of Doctor
Zhivago, and at the heart of it is a very human love story between
Yuri, played by Max Irons, and Natalka, played by Samantha Barks.
Barks, perhaps best known for playing Eponine in Les Miserables, both
on West End and in the Hugh Jackman-led feature film, joined Ten
Minute Film School recently to discuss the film, the importance of
getting historical stories right, and her remarkable rise to fame.
