“Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair.” What a fitting line to ominously close the so-called “prologue” to Alien: Covenant, which might be the best, or only, Prometheus sequel we’re going to get. There’s no telling if this will make it into the final film, but it’s a pretty chilling introduction to the events of this new Alien film.
The Crossing follows David (Michael Fassbender) and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) as they climb aboard the Engineer’s ship found on the planet LV-223 and navigate it towards the Engineer’s home planet. While Shaw is in cryogenic sleep during their journey, David studies the ship and the ways of the Engineers before it cuts to their arrival on this new planet. But the most chilling part is the realization that David is about to drop the Engineer’s own weapons that wreaked so much destruction in Prometheus. This isn’t going to end well for anyone.
Alien: Covenant is coming to theaters on May 19. Check out the short above, and take a look at the abundance of Alien: Covenant footage released already here, all nicely assembled for you.
