Marvel dropped the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok today and all we can do is quote Thor himself in screaming, “YEEES!”
In case you’re wondering how a Thor movie could look so fun, know that the hilarious and unstoppable Taika Waiti (Hunt for the Wilderpeople, What We Do in the Shadows) is helming this chapter in the Asgardian’s story. Not only has he brought the franchise a brighter color palette and lighter tone, but he’s brought along Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson’s (Creed, Westworld) Valkyrie, Cate Blanchett’s villainous Hela and at least one big, green surprise along for the ride.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.
Also joining the adventure are Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and apparently this shot from Captain America: The Winter Soldier:
If you haven't actually watched the trailer yet, shame on you for reading this far down without feeling compelled to click play. For everyone else, you can enjoy the new poster for this year's third MCU entry below. Following May's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and July's Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on Nov. 3.
