Classic duo Nancy And Beth have a serene video for their cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Blue” that you can watch exclusively on Paste—do that above, and don’t miss our recent feature on the duo here.

Nancy And Beth, aka the hilarious Megan Mullally and her fellow actress/singer Stephanie Hunt, are known for their harmonies and recognizable classic covers, like Wynona Carr’s “Please Mr. Jailer,” as well as humorous contemporary covers of songs like “I Don’t Love Her” by Gucci Mane. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Mullally spoke about her love for Joni Mitchell’s Blue and the effect it had on her creative style after listening to the album “probably 60,000 times,” which sounds like a conservative estimate.

It’s a tall order to replicate the emotional depth of any song off Mitchell’s Blue, much less the title song. Still, Mullally and Hunt give it a go, and do an admirable job. The video, directed by Mullally, consists of tranquil shots of a (probably) Californian beach, almost in the style of a home video. We see calming images of sunsets, people swimming, palm trees and the like, slice-of-life visuals that pair beautifully with Mullally and Hunt’s harmonies. Enjoy Mitchell’s original version of “Blue” (and a performance of hers from the Paste Cloud) below, find Nancy And Beth’s tour slate further down and check out Paste’s list of the 16 best Joni Mitchell songs here.
