Philadelphia Distilling was founded in 2005, and on February 20th of this year the first craft distillery in Pennsylvania opened the doors to its beautiful new home. Here, get a glimpse of their sparkling new digs.
The new space allowed the company to expand by adding a second, larger copper pot still. Those stills are shown off front and center at the distillery from its comfortable bar and lounge area.
The capability of having an on-site bar though was actually a key component to the relocation, with laws being changed approximately three and a half years ago to allow for on-site tastings and spirit sales at distilleries. “Right at that moment we started to look at a new space,” says co-founder Andrew Auwerda. “We were the first craft distillery in Pennsylvania and even had our hands in changing the law.”
It took years to find the right space and then ready it for its debut, and on a recent visit in late March, all of that hard work and investment was paying off. Happy guests sipped on creative house-made craft cocktails while others strolled through the facility soaking up knowledge on an informative tour. Those beautiful stills aren’t just for show, of course, and just days after this visit they would fire up for the very first time in their new home.
