Though Gotham’s Dark Knight hasn’t saved the day on the silver screen lately, the Batman is doing just fine in print and will have a major crossover later this summer.
This August, the team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo (who helmed the popular Batman comic from 2011 to 2016) are reuniting to deliver Dark Nights: Metal, which will cap off their run together while teaming Batman up with the Justice League. The crossover was announced at Fan Expo Dallas and streamed via Facebook Live.
“This will be the definitive project of our careers. Metal takes us in an entirely new direction,” said Snyder in a statement. “Greg and I will dig beneath the surface of all the stories we’ve told to find a place of terror and twisted nightmares.” He goes on to say Metal will “be celebratory, huge and crazy. I’ve said it before: I am going for out-of-control dinosaurs and lasers.”
Before the “definitive project” is unveiled in August, there will be two one-off comics that drop in June and July, respectively, co-written by Snyder with James Tynion IV, and illustrated by Andy Kubert, Jim Lee and John Romita Jr. Dark Days: The Forge hits on June 14 and then Dark Days: Casting comes on July 12.
