have released a new black-and-white music video for “If U C My Enemies,” the title track off their recently released EP. It’s got an old-school sci-fi vibe, and showcases the band as a group of friends addicted to their cellphones—that is, until a mystery creature comes to take them away from the habit of constantly checking their phones. Watch the video above to find out if they can return to their bodies, or if they’ll be stuck in a mysterious quarry forever.
singer Kal Traver said that when director Ian Perlman first suggested the idea for a video “based all the kitchy haunted horror cabin films of the ages,” the band loved the idea. However, they decided they needed the monster alien to be a positive force in the world. In a statement, Traver spoke about the idea, and how they lucked out on the perfect filming location:
We had to make sure that the villain was a gender ambiguous fashion witch who taught their victims how to love & be present with each other instead of bloodily killing them. We were extremely lucky to have access to a special location: our drummer & friend Jeremy’s family’s 100 year old converted schoolhouse deep in the woods of the Berkshires (it is truly haunted!) and an adjoining long-abandoned marble quarry which furnished the marble for the Lincoln memorial.
The video feels like a fun throwback, while the song is refreshing, catchy and certainly very danceable. Plus, the line, “If you see my enemies, tell them I want to be friends again,” is just super relatable.
