They’ve got a record out tomorrow (Awake and Pretty Much Sober, on Partisan Records), but as Jeremy Larson—better known as Violents—noted, yesterday’s Paste Studio session marked his first official performance with PHOX frontwoman Monica Martin.
“We did some stuff in my studio once, but this is our first performance,” he said in between songs. The duo was backed by a gorgeous string quartet, who they had also just met that morning.
You’d never be able to tell; their performances of “Equal Powers,” “How It Left” and “Unraveling” are absolutely lovely. Check out the full session—along with some discussion on how their collaboration came to be—in the video below.
