Band of Horses Will Soldier On With New Members

Earlier this month, indie-rockers Band of Horses lost guitarist Tyler Ramsey and bassist Bill Reynolds on the same day when the two announced their departures from the band on social media. And while frontman Ben Bridwell and remaining members Ryan Monroe (keyboards) and Creighton Barrett (drums) haven’t publicly acknowledged the departure, they certainly haven’t let the egress of two members stop them from expanding their current tour, which they did on Thursday.

Band of Horses  started the summer portion of their tour in Tallahassee, Fla., last week, just two weeks after Reynolds and Ramsey called it quits. Filling in onstage were guitarist Richie Kirkpatrick (Longhorne Slim and The Law) and Archer of Loaf’s Matt Gentling, who actually played bass for the band before Reynolds.

There hasn’t been any official comment by the band on whether Kirkpatrick and Gentling will become permanent members, but with the new dates booked, at least we know that it won’t be a completely Band of Horses-free year.

The tour is in support of the band’s 2016 record, Why Are You OK. Check out the extended tour dates below and while you’re at it, check out The Pilgrimage Session with Band of Horses via the Paste Cloud.
