Go Big or Go Home: Here’s the Trailer for Netflix’s ’80s Wrestling Comedy GLOW

Big hair and big shoulders abound in the new trailer for comedy series G.L.O.W., set to premiere on Netflix June 23. Executive-produced by Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan, G.L.O.W. is a fictionalized retelling of the hit ‘80s show Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling and features Alison Brie as an out-of-work actress who becomes a Gorgeous Lady in a last-ditch effort for fame.

The trailer shows Brie’s character, Justine, auditioning for G.L.O.W. and gaining enough fame in Hollywood with the other Gorgeous Ladies to enjoy fancy Hollywood parties, ‘80s style. Marc Maron plays the slimy producer and Betty Gilpin shows up as Justine’s arch enemy who “might” kill her.

The ‘80s costuming and set design looks fun enough to warrant a viewing, and the cast of misfit women resemble the Bellas from Pitch Perfect. If the wacky premise and flop of recent girl-power shows like Girlboss threaten to dissuade viewers, the cheesy original show should make for a spectacular comedic remake by Kohan.
