You Oughta Know: Alanis Morissette Will Premiere a Jagged Little Pill Musical Next Year

Alanis Morissette has written a stage musical based on Jagged Little Pill, according to the New York Times. The show will premiere in May 2018 at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass.

High-profile names have been recruited to join the project based on Morissette’s iconic 1995 record, including Tony Award-winning director Diane Paulus (Pippin, Hair) and Diablo Cody, writer of Juno and Ricki and the Flash, who is set to write the book.

Paulus told the Times that Jagged Little Pill was “one of the most important albums of the last 30 years.” The Grammy-winning album included hits like “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket” and “Ironic,” and is sure to inspire a story of teenage angst, passion and catharsis on the stage next year.
