Indie-pop singer-songwriter Allison Weiss is back with new music. Weiss got the opportunity to work with Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara for her latest single “Runaway,” a synth-pop track that resembles the duo’s 2014 album Heartthrob.
The song, which was featured on MTV’s Catfish last night after being world premiered on Beats 1, could just as easily be bumping in a club as it could be the backing track to a teen romance. The lyric video resembles an old videogame, radiating the same childlike qualities that the song exudes.
Weiss is currently on an Australian tour with The Smith Street Band and Joyce Manor. You can watch the lyric video for “Runaway” above and check out a performance by Weiss from the Paste vault below.
