First-Grader Now Has Picasso-esque Painting Hanging in The Met

Aysha Fatima now has her Picasso-esque painting of the Statue of Liberty hanging in one of the most famous museums in the world. Fatima is just one of the New York City kids that has her artwork displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a new exhibit.

P.S. Art 2017 highlights the work of younger New York generations, from prekindergarten students through grade 12. The Met describes the works as demonstrating “personal experience, imaginative use of media, the results of close observation and an understanding of artistic process.” The artworks were chosen by a panel of art specialists from the Department of Education and Studio in a School, who selected 393 semifinalists from 1,050 submissions. Distinguished members of the New York City art community chose the works to display in P.S. Art 2017.

The exhibit, which will be on display from June 13 to Oct. 29, allows students to see their work in a professional light, and all of their works are unbelievably compelling. You can take a look at some of the pieces below.
