Firefly offers a less demanding East Coast music fest with a lineup that doesn’t stretch into the small-print ether. It’s tightly curated and usually a load of fun. Like Shaky Knees, it (mostly) features guitar-driven indie rock, with a decent sweet tooth for EDM and hip-hop. In its sixth year, the event is predicted to pull in 90,000 people. And similar to Bonnaroo’s 2017 debut, Firefly launched with a mellow, grooving bill headlined by seductive English synth upstarts Glass Animals, with other sets from K.Flay, Maggie Rogers, Kaleo and Eden, among others. Ace photographer Julia Drummond will be there all weekend capturing performances from Bob Dylan, Weezer, Muse and dozens of other Paste favorites, but first check her sterling photos from yesterday in the gallery above.
