Ark: Survival Evolved Delayed to Late August

After two years in early access, Ark: Survival Evolved is finally going to launch fully, but not as early as expected. The title’s original Aug. 8 release date has been pushed back to Aug. 29.

Studio Wildcard explains that the delay is due to a miscalculation of time. This weekend, the game went gold (completed development, ready for manufacture) and received retail certification. This process took longer than the studio anticipated, and so the game is being pushed back for that reason.

“We’re deeply apologetic for those who were negatively affected by the delay; it sucks, it wasn’t what we had wanted, nor planned but where we currently stand,” the forum post reads. “We wanted to address this sooner but did not want to make any statements until we were completely sure of what was going to happen.”

This bad news isn’t all bad, though. The team is planning on focusing all their efforts on the PC and multiplayer additions of the game in the mean time, and the title’s free expansion, Ragnarok, will go live on launch day. This expansion will increase the island’s size by a quarter.

The forthcoming PC patches will be exported to console players in time. These patches include fixes to multiplayer bosses, baby-to-juvie aging issues and prohibiting players from going underneath the map to raid other players. Studio Wildcard has not yet revealed when these patches will go live.
