Chason Gordon is a frequent contributor to Paste Health and frequent hater of waiting rooms—especially when visiting a doctor. When trapped between four walls that smell like antiseptic and despair, Gordon visualizes his and the doctor’s woe in two dimensions with captions, a skill he’s become increasingly proficient in since creating comics with illustrator and YES! Magazine senior editor Stephen Miller. Over the past few yeas, the pair has crafted visual punchlines for Seattle Weekly, The Syrup Trap and other publications.
The four comics in the gallery above giddily address the ridiculous and endearing relationship between patient and doctor, all the more relevant as that scenario in America could be shifting drastically in the very near future.
“Your parents may be disappointed that you’re not a doctor, but outside of the lab coat and the power to make people wait, it’s not everything one might imagine. After all, they have to deal with patients.”
