Julien Baker Announces Fall North American Headlining Tour, New Album Coming Soon

Memphis-based indie folk singer and 2015 Best of What’s Next pick Julien Baker has announced a fall North American headlining tour and some added European dates, as well. The 21-year-old has spent the majority of 2017 on the road supporting acts such as Ben Gibbard, Conor Oberst and The Decemberists. Her fall tour will kick off this October in Atlanta, Ga., and will see her playing her biggest shows to date, including one at New York’s historic Town Hall and one at Los Angeles’ landmark Palace Theatre.

Back in January, Baker announced she had signed on to Matador Records, and today she’s revealed that her full-length Matador debut is “coming soon.” The forthcoming album is the follow-up to her acclaimed 2015 debut LP Sprained Ankle, which showcased the singer’s hushed vocal style, and her raw and vulnerable lyrics, securing her as a new artist to watch. Baker’s new album will not include “Funeral Pyre” or “Distant Solar Systems,” both from her 7” released on Matador in March.

Stay tuned to Paste for more info on the album and check out Baker’s full tour itinerary below, as well as her 2016 performance from the Paste Studio.
