Thor: Ragnarok Expected to be Shortest MCU Film

Fresh off the announcement that the forthcoming Avengers film(s) will be the MCU’s longest, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has revealed that his film will be the franchise’s shortest, per Collider.

Waititi explained:

The cut right now, I reckon it’s about 100 minutes. It’s not gonna be a very, very long film. I think that stories are better when you leave them wanting more, and this film moves at a clip, it’s got stuff happening all the time. I think people are still gonna feel exhausted by the end, they’ve been on this big journey and stuff, so I don’t think we need the film to be three hours.

Hey, that definitely sounds like solid reasoning. In recent years Hollywood has increasingly felt like a run-time arms race to see who can cram in the most characters or extend a story the longest. Having a smaller, more compact story with fewer characters and smaller scope actually sounds pretty refreshing. And if it somehow sucks as bad as Thor: The Dark World, at least we won’t have to sit there for very long.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on Nov. 3. Read more of our thoughts about the film and its new trailer right here.
