Passion Pit Frontman Michael Angelakos Announces Hiatus for Mental Health Reasons

Michael Angelakos, the creative force behind electro-pop outfit Passion Pit, has stated that the group will go on hiatus. Angelakos has been extremely open about his battle with bipolar disorder, around which some of his albums have entirely revolved around. However, he has decided to stop making music with Passion Pit for mental health reasons. Angelakos made the announcement last night in a series of tweets.

“I love Passion Pit and I love music even more,” Angelakos said. “When something would be wrong, I’d try to ignore it. Then I’d almost die. Really.”

Take a look at the singer’s various tweets below. It was also recently announced that the latest Passion Pit album, Tremendous Sea of Love, will arrive to streaming services on Friday. Learn more here and watch a Paste artist profile (circa 2009) for Passion Pit below.
