Take a Sneak Peek at Jack White's Children's Book

Add “children’s author” to Jack White’s list of ever-growing accomplishments. His new book, We’re Going To Be Friends, is based on the lyrics from The White Stripes’ song and was illustrated by animator Elinor Blake, whose work you’ve probably seen on Ren & Stimpy and Pee Wee’s Playhouse. In honor of National Friendship Day yesterday, Aug. 6, Third Man Books—a division of Third Man Records—has released a sneak peek of the book in a Facebook video.

We’re Going To Be Friends features the song’s protagonist Suzy Lee going to school and making some new acquaintances. The illustrations, to the surprise of no one, are black, white and red. Along with the original White Stripes song that shares its title, the book will be released with a new recording by Blake (under her artist name of April March) and another by The Woodstation Elementary School Singers.

Watch the sneak peek below. We’re Going To Be Friends goes on-sale Nov. 7 and is available for preorder here. In the meantime, check out our list of 16 awesome things about Jack White here.
