Kelcey Ayer of Local Natives has followed up the unveiling of the first two singles from his side project Jaws of Love. with “Hawaiian License Plates.” The track, inspired by a drive through the rain while in Honolulu with his wife, marries Ayer’s soaring vocals and rhythmic piano playing with elaborate synth production courtesy of COMBAT! to create a powerfully emotional song.
And if the new single isn’t enough to keep us interested while we await the release of Tasha Sits Close to the Piano, Ayer also announced a series of additional tour dates along the West Coast. The tour kicks off the day before the album’s release at the Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles, Ayer’s hometown, with COMBAT! as support.
From the album, Ayer has previously released “Jaws of Love.” and “Love Me Like I’m Gone.,” the latter of which was featured on Will Arnett’s Netflix series Flaked. Tasha Sits Close to the Piano is set to be released Sept. 22 via K-Rizzla/House Arrest and is available for pre-order here. Tickets for his tour, which go on sale Friday, can be found here.
