Danish trio Mew released their seventh album, Visuals, last April, a smooth, atmospheric and proggy evolution of the band’s winding compositions. With a line-up comprised of Jonas Bjerre, Johan Wohlert and Silas Graae, the group has also maintained a legacy of hypnotic shows, with surreal, swirling animations. Paste has been fortunate to cross paths with Mew on two occasions recently. The first outing saw the group visit Paste’s NYC studio for a mesmerizing, stripped-down performance, but Paste photographer Autumn Andel also caught the smiling members during their recent Portland stop at Hawthorne Theatre.
Andel documented some burrito feasting, sound check and the kaleidoscopic live show in the gallery above. Mew is currently touring Asia and Australia before returning to Europe.
