Wayne Coyne Announces The Flaming Lips/Mac DeMarco Split EP

When Mac DeMarco announced that he was co-headlining his This Old Dog tour with The Flaming Lips, we knew that this endearingly absurd spectacle of holy matrimony would eventually come to an end … But soon we’ll have a relic to remember this partnership by.

Lips frontman Wayne Coyne posted an Instagram video of himself playing DeMarco’s “Chamber of Reflection” on the keys, letting his followers know that they should expect a split EP of covers by the two artists. He and his band will be recording their renditions of three of DeMarco’s songs, and the so-called “Mac DeMarco afternoon delight ensemble” will be covering Lips songs in return. Coyne also added that this collaboration with be released on “hopefully on vinyl AND cassette.” The title and release date have yet to be revealed.

Both the acts are currently on tour and will be playing joint concerts until October. Check out Coyne’s announcement below, as well as DeMarco and Lips performances from the Paste Cloud.
