First Aid Kit Share Thoughtful New Single, "It's A Shame"

With the americana-tinged music that comes from sister duo First Aid Kit, you’d never know that they were from Sweden. Klara and Johanna Söderberg’s warming vocals and delicate guitar strumming mesh to create a beautifully folky sound, and it resonates in their new single “It’s A Shame.”

The track was released as a follow-up to their debut album Stay Gold and a track they shared for International Women’s Day, “You Are the Problem Here.” Produced by Tucker Martine in Portland, Ore., the song is “a plea to live in the moment because everyone disposes of each other eventually.”

The sisters further explained the origins of the song:

“We went to Los Angeles last spring and spent five weeks there writing. It was a tough time for the both of us. We were in this beautiful, sunny place but mostly felt sad and lonely. ‘It’s a Shame’ is a song about the emptiness and desperation you feel after a relationship has come to an end, how you will go to great lengths just to numb the pain and feel less lonely.”

To commemorate the release of “It’s A Shame,” First Aid Kit are returning to the States to play a few shows in California, Texas and New York.
