Jim Carrey Reunites With Director Michel Gondry for Showtime Comedy Series Kidding

We’re getting that Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind mini-reunion we didn’t know we needed, with Michel Gondry’s Jim Carrey-starring Kidding. The scripted half-hour comedy has been ordered straight-to-series for 10 episodes by Showtime, per THR.

Gondry, who directed Carrey in the acclaimed Eternal Sunshine, will run the show with Dave Holstein, who is an executive producer of Showtime series I’m Dying Up Here alongside Carrey. Also attached as an executive producer is Jason Bateman (Ozark, Arrested Development).

Kidding will have Carrey as Jeff, aka “Mr. Pickles,” as a children’s television icon and multimillionaire who begins to undergo a family crisis. Showtime CEO David Nevins describes the role as “like watching Humpty Dumpty after the fall.”

This show will mark Carrey’s first return to a regular television role since 1990s sketch-comedy show In Living Color. While a Kidding premiere date has not been announced by Showtime, the network recently renewed I’m Dying Up Here for a second season.
