As much as we liked Pokemon Sun and Moon, the much-hyped Ultra Beasts felt more like an afterthought in the post-game. But as the new trailer for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon demonstrates, we have a lot more to see of these terrifying and unsettling creatures.
While players of the original Sun and Moon briefly traveled to this alternate dimension through a wormhole, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will expand on this heavily, with an all-new storyline focused on it. Players will travel through the Ultra Wormhole, in what kind of looks like a Sonic the Hedgehog special stage. They will then be cast into a dimension parallel to that of the region of Alola, giving players the opportunity to fight Ultra Beasts (including three brand new ones for this game) on their home turf.
In the capital of Ultra Megopolis, it appears as though the light has basically been stolen by Necrozma, a Legendary Pokemon that again felt like an undercooked afterthought in the original game. As Pokemon fans likely know already, Necrozma can fuse with either Solgaleo or Lunala to create new forms Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings, respectively. Finally, we get our first look at a new evil organization: the Ultra Recon Squad.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will come to the Nintendo 3DS system family on Nov. 17.
