Music makes Paste’s world go ‘round, and we’re partnering with Universal Music Group’s The Sound of Vinyl—a first-of-its-kind music service that provides a personalized and curated platform for discovering and buying vinyl records—to give away vinyl copies of five of our favorite albums released this year. Don’t say we never did anything for you!
Here are the five albums you stand to win in the Sound of Vinyl sweepstakes:
The New Pornographers – Whiteout Conditions
Father John Misty – Pure Comedy
Kendrick Lamar – DAMN.
Grizzly Bear – Painted Ruins
Diet Cig – Swear I’m Good At This
The Sound of Vinyl launched in the U.S. earlier this month, offering a powerful and convenient solution to help music enthusiasts discover new vinyl and build their record collections. The service has a vast catalog of more than 20,000 new and classic albums, and uses a recommendation engine to suggest albums based on each user’s personal tastes. SOV’s text message-based recommendation system, powered by Seattle’s MessageYes, makes finding and buying a new album as easy as receiving a text message with an album pick, then replying YES to buy instantly, or LIKE or DISLIKE to improve future recommendations.
“Vinyl is the ultimate delivery medium for music’s limitless greatness,” said punk-rock icon Henry Rollins—one of SOV’s first featured vinyl curators—in a statement. “I came into music via vinyl, and that’s how I’m going out! The Sound of Vinyl allows music enthusiasts of all levels of interest or experience to not only get records easily, but to learn about every aspect of vinyl from extraordinarily unique and informed sources.”
