The plan was for Tame Impala to unveil their Currents Collectors Edition box set tomorrow, Nov. 17, but it seems as though they couldn’t wait any longer. The band made the collection—which includes a limited-edition red vinyl with alternate cover art, a 12” featuring two remixes, and a 7” and flexidisc with three b-sides—available today ahead of its scheduled release.
Frontman Kevin Parker appeared on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show and shared the lead b-side of the album, “List of People (To Try and Forget About),” a track that he started composing at the end of the Lonerism era. “I guess one of the reasons it didn’t end up on the album is because it was started on so early, and I was so over it by the time I was finishing the album,” he explained. “But by the time I got to finish it I was really satisfied with it as a song, and as a chunk of my creativity and emotion and stuff.”
The rippling, hazy “List of People (To Try and Forget About)” is also accompanied by additional b-sides “Powerlines” and “Taxi’s Here,” and remixes of “Reality in Motion” by band member Jay Watson, aka GUM, and “Let It Happen,” remixed by Soulwax.
