Telltale’s The Walking Dead Collection Coming to PS4 and Xbox One

Prepare to cry over Clementine again. Telltale Games announced through their website that all previous installments of their Walking Dead series will be compiled and visually upgraded for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Walking Dead Collection includes Season One, Season Two, the 500 Days episode, the Michonne miniseries and the third season titled A New Frontier.

Telltale also announced that writer Gary Whitta (Rogue One, The Book of Eli), who wrote for the critically acclaimed Season One, will return for the forthcoming fourth and final season of Telltale’s choice-driven adventure game. Whitta says in a statement:

Collaborating with Telltale on the first season of Clementine’s journey through the world of The Walking Dead was one of the highlights of my career, so reuniting with them to now bring her story to a close with this final season feels like a homecoming. Clementine has become not just one of the most compelling characters in the Walking Dead pantheon but one of the great videogame characters of all time. I hope we’re able to do justice to her and to her millions of fans. This one feels special.

The fourth season will focus on “the final chapters of Clementine’s storyline.”

While Telltale has always been celebrated for their point-and-click adventure games, The Walking Dead: Season One started a sort of renaissance for the studio, with Telltale afterwards creating games based on Fables, Minecraft, Game of Thrones, Batman and Guardians of the Galaxy. While the recent installments of The Walking Dead haven’t achieved the same amount of critical acclaim, at least one can argue that it’s still doing better than the television show.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection will shamble its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (in both physical disc and digital download forms) on Dec. 5. Watch the trailer below.
