Twin Peaks Complete Sweet '17 Singles and Announce New Tour Dates for 2018

At the end of 2017, Twin Peaks are doing the most things—at least, releasing songs and announcing compilations before the months where music making goes to die. Or hibernate.

They’ve just finished up a collection titled Sweet ‘17 Singles, and we appreciate their humor and good spirit in choosing a title for a difficult year. The collection includes songs about more serious matters, less serious matters and tongue-in-cheek cliches, as in the song “Under the Pines,” where the lyrics are, “I filled your hand with mine.” This is Twin Peaks’ first major release since their down-home rock album (which was more refined, per Paste’s review) Down in Heaven dropped more than a year ago.

The final two songs on the compilation, “In The Meadow” and “We Will Not Make It (Not Without You),” were just released today to the acclaim of fuzz guitar riffs and muted lyrics. All of the songs will be pressed and released as a limited-edition 12” on Feb. 9, 2018, available for preorder now via Grand Jury here. What’s more, the band participated in a Spotify Music Happens Here session about music in Chicago, in which they covered Cheap Trick’s “Surrender” with country stomp candor—watch their performance here.

Below we’ve included a Twin Peaks favorite from the Paste Cloud, “Making Breakfast,” as well as the new songs from the Sweet ‘17 Singles comp: “In the Meadow” and “We Will Not Make It (Not Without You).” Listen to the full playlist here. The band has also announced a slew of new tour dates, which you can check out further down.
