The Söderberg sisters have a new album due out in early 2018, the much-anticipated Ruins, but for now, they’re taking the time to celebrate Christmas (and Lorde). First Aid Kit stopped by London’s BBC Radio 2 to perform a cover of Melodrama stand-out “Perfect Places,” as well as holiday classic “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”
The band shared their twangy “Perfect Places” cover on Twitter, calling the Lorde single “one of our fav songs of this year that we were thrilled to have the chance to cover.” Of their holiday song, the band said in another tweet, “We’ve always loved the melancholy of ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.’ The Judy Garland version brings us to tears. It was quite a treat to get to record this for our @BBCRadio2 session. We hope you enjoy it.”
Ruins, the duo’s fourth studio album, will be released via Columbia Records on Jan. 19, 2018. You can find out more about the album here, preorder it here, and revisit advance tracks “Fireworks,” “It’s a Shame” and “Postcard.” Ruins will be First Aid Kit’s first LP since 2014’s Stay Gold. They recently set a 2018 tour in support of their new album, which kicks off Jan. 24, 2018.
