Over the course of three albums, the Moondoggies have perfected a brand of easy, breezy nostalgia that’s still firmly rooted in the 21st century. In the five years since the Washington band’s last release, Adios I’m a Ghost, they’ve intentionally progressed towards an even more open, honest style of songwriting. “Easy Coming,” from the Moondoggies’ forthcoming LP A Love Sleeps Deep, capitalizes on that new sense of rawness.
“Easy Coming” finds singer/guitarist Kevin Murphy contemplating the passage of time, his voice weaving in and out of remarkably pretty melodies and restless rhythms. But while the songs speaks to anxiety, A Love Sleeps Deep is a sweeping rumination on affection.
A Love Sleeps Deep is out April 13 on Hardly Art Records. Pre-order the album here.
