In the first trailer for Pop’s new comedy, Let’s Get Physical, Joe “My Body’s a Dive Bar” Force (Matt Jones) learns that his father, “the Republican Richard Simmons,” has died—and bequeathed his $8 million fortune to the winner of the Competitive Aerobics Championship.
To claim his inheritance, Joe has to channel his 1980s heyday and face down rival Barry Cross (a very buff-looking Chris Diamantopoulos, fresh off A Christmas Story Live!), whose wife, Claudia (AnnaLynne McCord), also happens to be Joe’s teenage love. As if that weren’t enough, he also has to deal with his manipulative mother, played by Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman herself, Jane Seymour.
The series, created by Workaholics’ Connor Pritchard and Ben and Dan Newmark, joins Pop’s terrifically funny Canadian import, Schitt’s Creek, on Wednesday nights. No word yet on an Olivia Newton John guest arc, but a boy can dream, right?
Let’s Get Physical premieres Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 8:30 and 11:30 p.m. on Pop, following the Season Four premiere of Schitt’s Creek at 8:00 and 11:00 p.m.
