President Trump is a racist. The Republican Party is racist. This whole episode is incredibly depressing, but it is comforting to see who our allies are in these trying times. Anderson Cooper choked up during this incredibly moving defense of the Hatian people.
Don Lemon's monologue was quite powerful as well.
Republican consultant Rick Wilson practically lit a Trump apologist on fire on live TV.
Today, I wrote that the Republican Party is an inherently racist institution, but the work that people like Rick Wilson are doing should not go unnoticed. If you’re a Republican, you’re not a racist—but if you’re a racist, odds are strong that you’re a Republican. Racism is not confined to this one party—it is endemic to every square inch of this country—but speaking out against the chief enabler of white supremacy in the United States (the GOP) is necessary if we are to ever make good on the failed promises of the American project. The Republican Party must either be shamed into modernity or left to rot in the dustbin of history.
