Together At Last, indeed: Jeff Tweedy of Wilco is heading out on a solo acoustic tour in support of his 2017 album. Tweedy hits the road in April, stopping by select cities in the U.S. and Canada before a pair of festival sets in June and August, then some Europe shows in September. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Feb. 9, via Wilcoworld.net.
Tweedy’s tour will take him to multiple Canadian cities that he has rarely set foot in, whether as a solo performer or with Wilco. His U.S. stops include Royal Oak, Mich., Burlington, Vt., Princeton, N.J., and Saxapahaw, N.C., followed by a performance at the Clearwater Festival in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., so fans on the West Coast, for instance, are out of luck.
A press release nicely sums up the allure of a Tweedy solo tour:
Working with no set list, the Wilco frontman offers reworked versions of familiar fan favorites as well as deep tracks from his expansive catalog. Equipped with only an acoustic guitar and a droll sense of humor, Tweedy frequently encourages audience participation, resulting in a concert experience that is as intimate and compelling as it is entertaining.
Tweedy’s first and only solo album to date, Together At Last features intimate, acoustic renditions of 11 tracks released by Wilco (“Ashes of American Flags,” “Sky Blue Sky”), and Tweedy side projects Loose Fur (“Laminated Cat”) and Golden Smog (“Lost Love”). The album is out now on dBpm Records, and as Ben Salmon writes in his review for Paste, it’s “a treasure.”
