The Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Is Coming in 2019

There’s been sporadic talk surrounding the cinematic debut of one of gaming’s most enduring characters for years, but the chatter got a bit more credibility with Tuesday’s announcement that the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie will be unleashed upon all of its loyal OCs in 2019.

That’s Nov. 15, 2019 to be precise, according to THR.

The film, produced by Deadpool director Tim Miller and Neal H. Moritz, will utilize a mixture of live-action and CGI in order to bring Sonic and his teammates to life, which we’re assuming will be the anthropomorphic animals’ first foray into the land of humans since 2006’s ill-fated entry in the franchise.

The film will mark the directorial debut of Jeff Fowler, and features a script from Pat Casey and Josh Miller of Golan the Insatiable fame.

The timing of the film couldn’t be better, as the battle between Sonic and Dr. Eggman reignited last year with the release of the critically acclaimed Sonic Mania and the absurdly purplexing Sonic Forces.
