Los Angeles psych rockers Wand have announced the release of their new EP, Perfume, out on May 25 via Drag City Records.
Per a description on Wand’s Bandcamp page:
Smells like 30 new minutes of new music via seven new electric hues, shocks of light that flagrantly provoke the dark, a posy’s clutch of purple, fuchsia, green and snowy white that curl against the stench of plague. With “Perfume,” Wand presents olfactory events that recall futures and pasts.
Perfume follows the release of last year’s album, Plum, which was featured on Paste’s list of the 50 best albums of 2017. Paste’s Ryan J. Prado called Plum “one of the most thoughtfully dynamic albums to come out in 2017” and said it “has separated them completely from the fray.”
Wand’s new track “The Gift” features ornate, meticulous guitar work with underlying prog and psych-rock tones, frontman Cory Hanson’s yearning lead vocals, a grand piano arrangement and a face-melting guitar solo powerful enough to punch a hole through the space-time continuum.
