“I’ll Make You Sorry” is the vibrant newest tune off the forthcoming seventh studio album from Screaming Females, All At Once, due out this Friday, Feb. 23, via Don Giovanni Records. The New Jersey-based punk trio, led by singer/guitarist Marissa Paternoster alongside Jarrett Dougherty on drums and King Mike on bass guitar, collaborated with producer Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon) to create the next installment in their already-extensive body of work.

The Lance Bangs-directed music video for “I’ll Make You Sorry” showcases Paternoster’s charismatic sensibilities, powerful voice and slicing solos, along with the band’s general playfulness as they perform inside an abandoned warehouse on top of piles of debris and rubble. The song spreads its melancholic message with anti-love lyrics, as Paternoster lays down heartbroken verses from atop the wreckage, playing her guitar.

“I’ll Make You Sorry” suggests just how dynamic All At Once will be, with the slower and more vocally driven representation of the two previously released singles, “Deeply” and “Glass House,” juxtaposed against the fast-paced rhythm of this newly released song. The forthcoming album is said to be the evidence of the band’s growth, experience and skill. “When you’ve been a band for 12 or 13 years, the resources can dry up and you just go back to what feels comfortable,” explains Dougherty in a statement. “The other option is that you develop stuff that a younger band would not have been able to do.”

It’s good to know that after such a long time playing together, Screaming Females are still pushing the envelope. The band is just about to kick off a world tour, starting with a three-night stay at Monty Hall in Jersey City, N.J. See their full tour slate below and preorder All At Once here.
