The sixth and final season of House of Cards will see Golden Globe winner Robin Wright return as Madame President, and it looks like things are going to be a bit different under her leadership. “We’re just getting started,” a mighty Claire Underwood says, standing tall in the Oval Office in the new season’s first teaser.
The teaser premiered during the 90th Academy Awards ceremony last night, where the nominees featured the most diverse and inclusive group of nominees yet, including the first-ever female cinematography nominee and the first female nominee for Best Director in eight years.
Times are definitely changing. With Kevin Spacey’s recent disgrace forcing his departure from the show, House of Cards now joins the #TimesUp movement that has recently soared in Hollywood, with President Claire Underwood making headway.
The series stars Wright, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott, Boris McGiver, Patricia Clarkson, and newcomers Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane. The final season does not have a premiere date yet, but it will be released on Netflix sometime in the fall.
