In this exclusive clip from the next episode of AMC’s McMafia, Alex Godman (James Norton), the scion of a Russian mobster and the founder of a financial services firm that’s struggling to stay afloat, sinks deeper and deeper into Europe’s criminal underworld—all in the hope of saving his company, and his family.
At an event hosted by his girlfriend Rebecca’s wealthy mentor, Alex (not exactly inconspicuously) dips out to field a phone call from his own patron, Israeli powerbroker Semiyon Kleiman (David Strathairn). But Kleiman isn’t just asking Alex to launder money, not anymore: Now he’s embroiled in the negotiation with a Czech kingpin, not to mention hiding the truth from Rebecca (Juliet Rylance). Between the priceless stonework framing Alex’s end of the conversation and Kleiman’s gleaming, modern manse, the scene captures the new Cold War aesthetic of the globetrotting crime drama perfectly.
My only question is, where can I get one of Kleiman’s bathrobes?
McMafia airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on AMC.
