27 More Women Accuse Charlie Rose of Sexual Harassment

According to an in-depth article from a five-month investigation from the Washington Post, former CBS News anchor Charlie Rose has now been accused of sexual misconduct by an additional 27 women. After the first allegations came out in November of Roses’s sexual misconduct against eight women, Rose apologized, his PBS show was cancelled and he was fired from CBS News.

Now, the Post has found that Rose’s inappropriate behavior was raised to CBS managers as early as 1986 and as recently as April 2017. 27 of the women who came forward were CBS News employees, while 13 of them were Rose’s co-workers elsewhere. The investigation was conducted with 107 current and former CBS News employees, and dozens of others who worked with Rose on other television programs.

Though Rose’s misconduct was first flagged to CBS in 1986, the first allegation dates back to 1976, when he allegedly exposed himself to a female co-worker and groped her. One of the most damning claims in the new bombshell article is that Rose made lewd comments to a 22-year-old news clerk, Annmarie Parr, and Parr reported it to a senior producer, who just laughed it off. According to Parr, the producer laughed at her and said, “Fine, you don’t have to be alone with him anymore.”

CBS News, who previously said they had no HR complaints about Rose, issued a statement on Wednesday:

Since we terminated Charlie Rose, we’ve worked to strengthen existing systems to ensure a safe environment where everyone can do their best work. Some of the actions we have taken have been reported publicly, some have not. We offer employees discretion and fairness, and we take swift action when we learn of unacceptable behavior. That said, we cannot corroborate or confirm many of the situations described. We continue to look for ways to improve our workplace and this period of reflection and action has been important to all of us. We are not done with this process.

Rose responded to these new allegations in a single sentence email to the Post, simply stating, “Your story is unfair and inaccurate.”
