Big Thief Announce U.S. Tour Dates

Brooklyn indie rockers Big Thief have announced U.S. tour dates in support of their critically acclaimed 2017 album Capacity.

Big Thief’s upcoming tour dates are in addition to their previously announced festivals like Chicago’s Pitchfork Festival, Boston Calling and Quincy, Wash.’s Sasquatch, and their support slot for Father John Misty at the Hollywood Bowl. The band’s new dates include some of their biggest rooms they’ve ever played, with stops in cities like Vancouver, Portland, Asheville, El Paso, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Santa Fe, Providence and more.

Capacity was the band’s second studio album, following their 2016 debut album Masterpiece. Their sophomore LP consisted of memorable singles like “Mary,” “Shark Smile” and “Mythological Beauty.” The new album sees lead singer Adrianne Lenker embracing her darker, more vulnerable side, addressing the pain that often goes hand in hand with love, as well as nostalgic recollections.

Paste had a chat with Big Thief last year about their album, in which Lenker discussed the autobiographical nature of her songwriting. “I can’t take myself out of it, no matter how much I want to,” she said. “I was asked recently if [the songs are] all autobiographical, or if they’re all true, or if they’re fictional. They’re not such different things. They are all autobiographical. They’re all true. I’ve never really written a fictional piece.” Revisit the full interview here.
