Jordan Peele’s Get Out was one of last year’s most acclaimed films, landing the top spot on Paste’s list of the year’s best. The surreal horror flick has an equally eerie soundtrack, and now you can own the movie’s music in the form of a double LP vinyl release, out today, Friday, June 15, via Waxwork Records. We’re thrilled to mark the record’s rollout with a giveaway.
Film fans and soundtrack aficionados alike can enter right here to win a copy of Get Out Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music By Michael Abels for themselves. The deadline to enter is next Friday, June 22 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
For those too eager to hold out for the sweepstakes, you can purchase the vinyl on the Waxwork website, or stream the soundtrack below (or via Spotify here). The 180-gram “Garden Party” green marbled vinyl record is accompanied by new artwork by Leslie Herman, and also a printed insert with liner notes that are actually an essay by Jordan Peele, detailing the ideas behind the music. Peele writes, “I had some ideas. I envisioned distinctly black voices harmonically creating an unnatural sound. The absence of hope. The void of the voiceless. A disembodied Negro spiritual. The Sunken Place.”
Not only was Get Out Peele’s directorial debut, but the movie was also composer Michael Abels’ first film soundtrack. Starring Oscar nominee for Best Actor Daniel Kaluuya opposite Allison Williams, the film paints a familiar and terrifying portrait of race in America, and all with a searing serving of satire. Get Out won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and it was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Director. You can read Paste’s review from February of 2017 right here.
Again, the soundtrack is on sale and streaming now, and you can enter to win a copy via Paste right here. There’s only one week to enter, so act fast! Deadline for entry is Friday, June 22 at midnight. You can also check out the new album artwork below.
