We know how it goes at Disney theme parks: you can’t get a FastPass to everything, so inevitably you’ll wind up waiting in a line that’s just too long for comfort. The waits might not be as interminable as they were in the days before smart phones, but they can still wear you out. There’s only so much time you can kill on social media, you know?
To help make those lines feel like they’re blasting by, Disney’s unveiling a new app that will turn attraction queues into interactive fun and games. Next time you’re halfway through a 60 minute wait for Space Mountain, just whip out the Play Disney Parks app on your iOS or Android device and challenge your friends to a round of Rocket Race. If you’re in line for the brand new Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster coming to Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, you’ll be able to dig into Andy’s toy box and play Andy’s Boardgame Blast. The app has experiences tied to a number of rides at both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts, from Peter Pan’s Flight to Toy Story Mania.
The Play Disney Parks app launches on Saturday, June 30, the same day that Toy Story Land opens, but you can preorder it today at the App Store and through Google Play. And in an added bonus for Apple users, you’ll be able to link it to your Apple Music account and enjoy Disney songs and playlists during your wait. (Please wear headphones or earbuds, though—respect your fellow passengers!)
If you want to get a sneak peek at what the app offers and looks like, you can find more info at the Disney Parks blog, or take a look at a few screenshots below.
