won’t be directing the next James Bond film, the official Bond Twitter account announced Tuesday.
Citing “creative differences,” Boyle will be leaving the forthcoming 25th James Bond film, reportedly current star Daniel Craig’s last in the franchise. Long-time Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are also named in the announcement.
We should expect a flurry of speculation in the coming days as to who will replace Boyle on the project. Idris Elba, often rumored as a successor to Craig in the iconic role, also addressed recent speculation about his joining the franchise in a tweet earlier this month.
With Craig on his way out and an opening available for the next film’s director, hopefully we’ll get to see some major shake-ups in the enduring Bond franchise.
