It’s that time of the month again to find out what free games are being offered through Sony’s PlayStation Plus service. August brings PS Plus subscribers several titles, including Bound by Flame and Serious Sam 3 BFE on PlayStation 3, as well as Draw Slasher and Space Hulk on the PlayStation Vita. However, the real winners are PlayStation 4 owners, who get to enjoy Mafia III, Dead By Daylight and a few other surprises.
Mafia III is the latest in the crime-driven franchise. This entry takes players on a revenge tour as Lincoln Clay, a black Vietnam vet who has a grudge against the Italian mafia for killing his family. Meanwhile, Dead by Daylight is an intense multiplayer experience in which four players take on the role of survivors, while a fifth player is a killer trying to hunt them down. In this 4v1 horror game, you either try to escape or set up traps for your prey.
Sony is feeling a little gracious this month, as they are also offering two more free games to subscribers. Here They Lie, a VR horror game, is available through PS Plus for free from Aug. 7 through Oct. 2. The first-person horror game throws players into a nightmarish city inhabited by deadly creatures and unsettling denizens.
Knowledge is Power, one of Sony’s PlayLink games, is also being offered through the PS Plus membership from Aug. 7 through Nov. 6. Played using a mobile device and the game’s companion app, this trivia game challenges players to outsmart their opponents. It’s another solid month for PS Plus, with plenty of options no matter which PlayStation device you own.
