Neko Case Shares Partly Cartoon, Wholly Strange “Curse of the I-5 Corridor” Video

Neko Case’s most recent LP, Hell-On, is some of her brightest work yet, an album built from the ashes (literally—her Vermont home burnt down last September) and set aflame with skippy tambourines, vibrant storytelling and Case’s seeking voice. On Wednesday, she shared a short, but amusingly graphic, video clip accompanying her Hell-On track “Curse of the I-5 Corridor.” You can watch it below.

In the video, the “curse” may just be some overactive—ahem—phallic imagery. The video, which co-stars song collaborator Mark Lanegan, earned an age-restricted video rating on YouTube, but, since it’s a cartoon rendering that mostly animates corndogs, you won’t leave feeling too scarred. Plus, it’s very short, clocking in at just over a minute. Nevertheless, the acts on display have us feeling like we need to get the hell-out. And like we may not eat corn dogs for while.

Also out today is Neko Case’s Song Exploder episode, in which she discusses fellow Hell-On track “Last Lion of Albion.” The New Pornographers vocalist is also touring through the end of the year. Find those dates here.
