Classic Rock Photographer Baron Wolman Kickstarting Book of Limited-Edition Jimi Hendrix Shots

Baron Wolman, the first chief photographer for Rolling Stone, is planning to release a limited-edition photography book of all of the photos he took of Jimi Hendrix from 1968-1970.

Wolman, who has photographed artists such as The Who, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, captured shots of Hendrix both onstage and in candid settings—some of which will be revealed for the first time in the book. Reprints of two articles from the magazine, one of which is an interview with Hendrix conducted by RS founder Jann Wenner, will also be included.

The book marks the 50th anniversary of the first time Wolman shot the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1968, and is seeking funding via Kickstarter to get the book to press. Though the campaign has surpassed its original $12,000 goal, with more than $16,000 raised as of this writing, there is still a ways to go before it can go to print. The Kickstarter deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m ET.
