Ezra Koenig’s Netflix Series Neo Yokio Gets Christmas Special

There hasn’t been anything quite like Neo Yokio in the year-plus since Netflix dropped the first season of creator and Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig’s anime-inspired New York high-society satire, starring Jaden Smith as a lovesick, Toblerone-obsessed young demon hunter and Jude Law as his robot butler. And while Netflix has not yet confirmed a second season of the series, fans will be getting the Christmas special Neo Yokio: Pink Christmas later this year.

The announcement was made in typically eccentric Neo Yokio fashion via a Twitter exchange with Toblerone, as the show’s Twitter responded to the brand’s requests for more Neo Yokio with a teaser for the forthcoming Christmas special.

The new teaser promises more of the New York high society references that will be familiar to fans of both Neo Yokio and Koenig’s work as leader of the highly influential band Vampire Weekend, who recently celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their debut album’s release. The teaser also provides an update from last season of the titular city’s bachelor rankings, the show’s highest form of social currency, with Smith’s Kaz Kaan now trailing behind rival Arcangelo Corelli, played by Jason Schwartzman.

While we don’t yet know who is set to return for the Christmas special, the cast of Neo Yokio’s first season also included Tavi Gevinson, Susan Sarandon, and Desus & Mero.

Neo Yokio: Pink Christmas is set to hit Netflix on Dec. 7. In the meantime, check out Vampire Weekend’s 2007 Daytrotter Session below.
